Netflix Plan Change Limitations and Restrictions
1. Restrictions: cannot be cancelled until redeemed giftcard balance is depleted, thus cannot be put on hold while traveling to a place where Netflix is not available.
2. Limitations: plans can be changed but will take effect only on the first day of a billing cycle.
It is a risky way of doing business as Netflix is a coountrywide company thus it is subject to federal regulations. If consumers report to US FTC for the restriction (in no.1) to not allow gap between prepaid services that doesn't align with the month-to-month agreement, and found liable, then the company can be fined. Also, if an attorney can find enough claimants, then a class action is also possible.
Aside from U.S., Ireland is another country where a separate law enforcement for commercial disputes for consumers exist.
